Apparently it&#039;s meant to keep the system from shutting itself off under a heavy draw from the processor that the A/C adapter can&#039;t handle.

<p>As the <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2332" rel="nofollow">support article</a> came out a few months before the most recent Unibody MacBooks / MacBook Pros, I suspect it may apply to more models than just the Late 2008 Unibody edition.</p>
<p>Apparently it&#8217;s meant to keep the system from shutting itself off under a heavy draw from the processor that the A/C adapter can&#8217;t handle.</p>
